Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is continuing to work on a new river network data specification as a first step towards improved river data.
This data will be useful for helping to understand and mitigate the impacts of floods. LINZ is currently seeking feedback on a draft specification from regional councils and some government agencies and crown research institutes to ensure the dataset will meet their needs.
LINZ will be using this to develop a river network dataset over the next couple of years.
